AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley felt a point against lowly Swindon Town may turn out to be a point gained, rather than two dropped.

Lyle Taylor missed a first half penalty in what was otherwise a nullifying contest which ended goalless.

Dons came into the game off of back-to-back wins against Oxford Untied and Gillingham, but couldn’t make it three on the bounce at home.

The result leaves them in 12th place, three points off the final play-off place occupied by Bury who they face at Gigg lane on Tuesday night.

Ardley said: "Second-half we tried to be better on the ball and show more purpose.

"Overall, it was a poor game but a good point, even though you want to win at home. It keeps the run going even though we weren’t at our best.”

The result see’s AFC Wimbledon extended their unbeaten league sequence to six games and the gaffer thinks they must look to pick up a win on the road if they are to make this draw look OK.

“Sometimes in the long run that might not be a bad point," he said.

"We weren’t at our best but we managed to stay in the game and get something from it, but this point only becomes a good one if we go away and pick up three.”
