Neal Ardley admitted a tweak in the AFC Wimbledon attack when he opted for a straight 4-4-2 was the beginning of the end for Bury.

By the end and 5-1, the Shakers had picked the ball out of their net 10 times this week from Dons, and will be glad to see the back of them.

However, it needed Ardley to suss out the necessary change.

"In the early stages, the middle of the pitch was crowded, but we changed to a 4-4-2 and the floodgates opened," he added.

Three goals in three first-half minutes did it - two created by Dom Poleon, and the other scored by the forward that brought his tally to nine for the campaign and three for the week against Bury.

it brought praise from the manager, but interestingly, it wasn't for the net bulgers.

Ardley explained: "He'll get more praise for me, for putting players in with goal scoring chances and he did that three times today

"After the game, I asked him what I was most happiest with? And he shook his head, because he knew."

The one downer as Dons took the last play-off spot in League One was a booking for Dean Parrett.

It means the midfielder misses the match with Millwall on Tuesday night as Ardley heads back to his old stomping ground.

In fact, the manager was wondering who to take off in the closing stages with the game long since won.

"I was umming and arring; Jake Reeves was on four bookings; Barry Fuller on four bookings, and Paul Robinson's played a lot of games," Ardley added.

"If I could have made six changes, I would!"

Last season's phenomenon Lyle Taylor only appeared for the last 15 minutes, and again the gaffer says his hands were tied.

"Lyle ran himself into the ground on Tuesday and we do a lot with fatigue questionnaire and we knew he wouldn't have the same performance in him, hence we gave him a break.

"We've had 11 games in 41 days. We've managed it really well.

"We want to get to December 10 with 30 points. We've got 27, so we need three points in three games - and even more if we can get them."
