Michael Peacock's first goal for Northwood consolidated the team's place in the Ryman One North play-off zone with a narrow win at Enfield Town last Wednesday.

The on-loan central defender finished with aplomb with a 69th minute shot into the bottom corner from a Hugo Figueiredo free kick.

That was the only goal of a game which began at a blistering pace with numerous chances coming at both ends - Figueiredo, Kyle Matthews and Bradley Hewitt all threatening for the Woods - but neither side could take advantage.

Early in the second half former Wood Otis Williams spurned a free header for Enfield and Ryan Edgar shot weakly at visiting keeper Mitch Swain and having survived those scares Northwood began to launch a series of attacks.

Peacock had a shot charged down and Danny Power's excellent cross presented Solomon Henry with a glorious opportunity to mark his first start with a goal but he miscued his close range header.

However, Peacock finally made a chance count and the Woods might have gone further ahead but one penalty appeal for handball was turned down, another Hewitt header flew narrowly wide and although they had to defend well as Enfield threw men forward, Anthony Page and Matthews might well have doubled the final tally.

Leaders Harefield United struck twice in the first half to ease to a 2-0 victory away to bottom side Holmer Green and move three points closer to the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division title. Murray Williamson and Danny Buckle netted in the 27th and 43rd minutes last Tuesday to make it back to back wins.
