UXBRIDGE have released midfielders Chris Robinson and Chris Cox with a warning from manager Tony Choules that more of his squad could follow them out of the exit door.

The men from Middlesex travel to fourth-placed Bridgwater Town on Saturday with Choules insisting that his mid-table side must challenge for a play-off spot this season.

After recently strengthening his squad, Choules admitted that his squad needed to be trimmed down with midfielders Robinson and Cox the first victims of the large squad that his been assembled at the Zamaretto League South and West Division club.

"They have departed us due to a lack of first-team opportunities, we have let them go so that they can get that elsewhere," said Choules. "It depletes us a bit, but we have a big squad here now."

However, he warned that none of his existing squad is safe unless they mount a play-off challenge during the next month or so.

Ahead of the trip to Somerset on Saturday, Choules said: "If we have aspirations to play in the Southern Premier League next season then we have to beat the teams around us. I spoke to the players at length on Saturday and told them that the side that nicks the last place in the play-offs usually goes on and wins them.

"That is the target for us, but we need to find some consistency. We have one of the best squads in the division by far, but if we are not up there by the end of February, then there will be some more goings. We would then make some big changes to prepare for next season."

Defender Matt Howell is poised to return on Saturday after serving a seven-match ban, while midfielder Kevin Warner is also back after a one-match suspension.
