John Terry is mulling over a new Chelsea deal to remain at Stamford Bridge for the Antonio Conte reign.

The club confirmed at the start of Guus Hiddink's pre-match press conference on Friday that the Blues legend had been approached on Thursday about a new deal.

Chelsea have offered the experienced centre-back a one year extension to his current deal which expires next month.

But the Blues are yet to hear back from Terry as yet.

Chelsea head of communications and public affairs Steve Atkins said: “I can say, on behalf of the club, that Bruce Buck met with John and his agent this week, and offered him a one year contract extension.

“Coming this late in the season, it’s a big decision for John - he’s now considering it.

“There will be no more comment."

Terry, who has made 483 Premier League appearances for the Blues , has played a leading role in their recovery from relegation-fodder to comfortable mid-table.

The skipper seemed destined to depart the club when, earlier this year, Chelsea confirmed he would not be receiving an extension.

The 35-year-old had even planned his leaving party - involving the Stamford Bridge pitch - and the club had planned a leaving dinner.

But reports emerged yesterday that the Blues cancelled the dinner and that Terry would be penning a new deal at the club before the Leicester match.

Guus Hiddink, however, remains unsure when Terry will make his final decision.

He said: “I don’t know before this weekend’s match - in general, when things are clear, you will see.

“20/21 years at a club - it’s huge. This is how they become legends, you must cherish them.”
