Brentford have completed the loan signing of Leicester City left-back Callum Elder on a season-long loan.

The Sydney-born Australian U20 international came through the ranks at the King Power Stadium after moving to England at an early age.

He has yet to make his debut for Leicester, but has had successful loan spells at both Mansfield and Peterborough.

Replacement: Jake Bidwell

Bees boss Dean Smith told the club's official website: “Callum is an attacking full back. He comes highly recommended and I believe there is further development in him. He is also a player that can improve the squad now.

“Callum came to my attention when he played for Peterborough against my Walsall team. He did very well that day and I have been watching him ever since although it was unfortunate he had to cut short that loan spell due to injury. I am pleased to welcome him to Brentford.”

Elder, signed as Jake Bidwell's replacement, could make his debut in today's friendly at Millwall for Tony Craig's testemonial.
