AN INCREASINGLY popular Hillingdon Primary Schools Cricket Festival took place earlier this month.

Entries were received from 24 schools which meant the competition had to be split between two venues, Ickenham and Harefield cricket clubs.

At Ickenham the four group winners, Sacred Heart, Whiteheath, Hayes Park and Cranford Park, went on to contest the semi-finals of the Cup event while runners-up Brookside, Glebe, Breaks-pear and Wood End Park went into the last four of the Plate competition.

Whiteheath beat Cranford Park and Hayes Park saw off Sacred Heart in the Cup semi-finals and Whiteheath went on to lift the Clive Radley Cup after scoring 252 in the final against Hayes Park's 233. Glebe amassed 250 to defeat Breakspear's 238 in the Plate Final.

Whiteheath would have gone on to represent the borough in the Middlesex Schools Finals at Regents Park on July 6 but that clashes with a school trip, so that honour will go to St Helen's, who overcame Newnham in the other cup final at Harefield CC.
