MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION THREE

Tower Hamlets 164 all out

West Harrow 167-7

West Harrow won by three wickets

WEST Harrow moved a step closer to the Division Three trophy on Saturday.

The table-toppers increased their lead at the summit with a narrow three-wicket win over second-placed Tower Hamlets to put themselves firmly in the driving seat.

West Harrow bowled first and restricted Tower Hamlets to 163 all out in 34.4 overs, which was a below-par score on a good batting wicket and lightning fast outfield. Vrushant Patel did the damage taking 5 for 19.

In reply, West Harrow lost some early wickets before settling into the innings, and there was some classic stroke play from Rudra Mangrola (50 not out) and Vrushant Patel (30).

Krishan Patel opened the batting and was the unsung hero as he hit a patient 39. He was eventually out just before West Harrow reached their target as they finished on 167 for 7 in 34 overs.

Next week West Harrow are without a match but the following Saturday they will play host to Ealing Three Bridges.

Meanwhile, West Harrow Sunday Development XI navigated the group stage of the inaugural Middlesex Development League to reach the knockout phase.

They will now play away against Stanmore this Sunday in the quarter finals.

The aim of the competition is to encourage the development of young players and each team must field a minimum of seven players under the age of 21.
