LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE - DAY TWO

Yorkshire 243 all out and 29-1

Middlesex 232 all out

Yorkshire 5pts Middlesex 4pts

John Simpson struck a century as Middlesex fought back on day two of their Division One match against Yorkshire.

Simpson helped bail out the Seaxes as they slumped to 11-4 in reply to the hosts' 232 all out at Scarborough.

His knock of 110, which included 17 fours and one six, allowed Middlesex to stage a recovery as the wicketkeeper and Dawid Malan (78) put on 168 for the fifth wicket.

Their partnership was ended by Ryan Sidebottom who took 7-44 as the visitors were all out for 232 with Tom Helm (11 not out) the only other batsman to get into double figures.

Yorkshire then lost the wicket of Adam Lyth, who struck 117 in the first innings, as they closed on 29-1.

Earlier in the day Middlesex had wrapped up the Yorkshire first innings as they went from an overnight 211-6 to 252 all out.

But then Chris Rogers, Nick Gubbins and Eoin Morgan all fell for ducks and Middlesex were staring down the barrel before Simpson and Malan came to the rescue.
