Friends United 239
Friends United won by 136 runs
NIKHIL Vaja (pictured) starred as Friends United recorded their first win of the season at the weekend.
United saw off Kondor by 136 runs to take maximum points in Division Three for the first time this term.
Kondor won the toss and decided to bowl, with Friends United losing their new opener early before Nirmal Ramgi and Ramesh Magan forged a good partnership.
Ramgi lost his wicket to an excellent catch to see Jalpesh Vijay enter the fray.
Magan and Vijay scored some quick runs and by the ninth over the score was at 61, with Magan soon bowing out on 31.
Vijay departed for 44 runs as Kondor’s bowlers started taking some quick wickets, but lower order hitting from Vaja, who scored 53 runs from 41 balls, meant Friends United managed to put on 239 runs on board.
In reply, Kondor started well by scoring 12 without loss in six overs, but Friends United’s cluster of pace bowlers soon started to get a grip on Kondor's innings.
Dinesh Carsane bowled brilliantly to take 3-16 in eight overs to suck the life out of the middle order and Vivek Rameshchandra, Vijay and captain Yogesh Nagpal all chipped in to finish the job.
