Harrow Town had the better of their Middlesex County League Division Three opener away to relegated Uxbridge on Saturday.

Put in to bat first by the home side, they scored well throughout the order, with opener Navin Samarakoon (40) and Saminda Seneviratne (48) batting soundly.

But it was a fine 86 from Abid Javed, in partnership with Sejpal (22 not out) who lifted the Town innings when it faltered on 166 for five as they put on 74 runs to see the visitors to a total of 241 for six.

Uxbridge made a good start to their reply but, after the first wicket went down at 42, there was then a regular flow of batsmen back to the pavilion, and they slumped to 128 for seven.

With Tyrone Theophile (3-47) and Kamlesh Desai (2-20) both bowling well, the home side opted for survival and finished with 165 for seven, Town taking the four points for the winning draw.
