HARROW Town leap frogged over joint leaders Highgate on Saturday to go clear at the top of the Middlesex County League's Division Three table with their 20-run win over Hornsey on Saturday.

The omens of victory, however, had not appeared too good after skipper Michael Judanath lost the toss and Town were asked to bat first, and they tumbled to 160 all out in 44 overs.

Fine bowling from Hornsey's M Tucker, who ended with a 7-55 haul, led to their demise and only Abid Javed of the Town batsmen really managed to get going, scoring a fine 59.

The modest and somewhat disappointing total certainly did not appear to be a winning one.

But, if Hornsey thought the outcome was done and dusted, they reckoned without the bowling of Kamlesh Desai.

Left with 56 overs to make the required runs, Hornsey made a complete hash of the task as Desai (5-28) swiftly got amongst them, and they were eventually all out for a dismal 140 with five overs remaining.
