Ealing's third team are back on top of the Third XI championship with three games to play in the Middlesex County League.
A two wicket win at Finchley co-incided with a 'losing' draw for previous leaders Eastcote at home to Richmond. Ealing (97 points) now hold an eight-point advantage at the top. Eastcote (89) and Richmond (83) are the teams Ealing will have to eclipse to lift the title.Aamon Soni was their hero on Saturday. His knock of 116 made the difference as Ealing chased Finchley's total of 217 all out.
In Division Two,Shepherds Bush thirds had a dramatic draw at Barnes, where the teams both finished on 259 from 50 overs and claimed three points each. Ollie Gibbs fell just short of a century on 90. The points are unlikely to save the Bush from relegation, however.
They remain bottom and their 19 points leave them 25 points short of safety. In Division Three,Acton thirds improved their chances of going up with a sevenwicket win at Bessborough - Hayden Glassey undefeated on 58 - while Uxbridge were held to a draw.
Richmond (122 points) are up but Uxbridge (87),Acton (77) and Kenton (77) are all in the mix for that second promotion slot. Brentham thirds are sixth with 50 points after a losing draw at Wycombe House.
