Harrow St Mary's kept up the pre-season misery for Bessborough on Saturday when they handed them an 84-run defeat in a 40-over game.

Batting first, Saints made 204 for six, with captain Tony Wright top scoring on 87, and being supported by overseas player Sanjeewa Jayaratne, who scored 57.

In reply Bessborough lost early wickets and, although they managed to clear the 100 mark, which they had failed to do in both previous friendlies against both Pinner and Kenton, they were eventually all out for 120.

J Nazir was the pick of the HSM bowlers, taking 3-16.

However, Saints' fortunes did not continue on Sunday when they lost a 40-over game against Vale.

Despite fine bowling from Jayaratne (3-28), Vale scored 177.

Jayaratne was also the Harrow St Mary's batting star, top scoring with 50.

But he did not get the support from his teammates, and HSM were all out for 126.

Away at Acton on Sunday, the HSM 2nd X1 gave a woeful display.

Batting first, Acton scored a formidable 278 for four.

In reply, HSM then had three batsmen out with no score on the board and, with two other batsmen also out for ducks, it was no surprise when they were eventually dismissed for a paltry 64.

Harrow St Mary's face a tough start to the new season this Saturday when they visit reigning Middlesex Championship Division One title holders Osterley.
