Pinner's promotion charge in Trailfinders Middlesex Division Two was dented on Saturday as they suffered their first defeat of the season.

A decent innings from Ranjit Bagwe (51) and Hamish Kumar (33) at Alexandra Park was not enough to help the visitors post a credible score as they slumped to a disappointing 146 all out in just 35.5 overs.

Much of the damage was done by home bowlers Van Dommelan and the economic Bagley, who took 4 for 56 and 5 for 42 respectively.

With Alexandra Park racing to 95 for 2 in reply, the home side looked to be heading to a comfortable victory.

Sachin Hedge (3-54), however, helped ensure the game was not lost without a fight and his three quick fire wickets left the home side on 105 for 6.

Opening batsman Cordy (90 not out) held firm, however, helping his side to 150 without the loss of another wicket.

Pinner seconds had a better result against Alexandra Park.

Openers Norman Williams (30) and captain Mark Rissen (37) helped Pinner get off to a good start and were well supported by Wiggins Hippolyte (61) as the home side post a respectable 213.

Alexandra Park made a late charge for victory but Niroshan Rajadurai (3-53) pegged them back as they finished on a 189 for 5.

Rain delays in the game against East Herts Cavaliers on Thursday last week prevented the midweek side from securing a win as their game ended in a draw. The Sunday fixture with Old Isleworthians and Heston was rained off without a ball being bowled.
