UXBRIDGE 3rd XI picked up 10 points with a one wicket win in an extremely close fought battle against Kenton.

After winning the toss and putting Kenton into bat Uxbridge's hard work was rewarded with Peter Parfitt picking up two early wickets. At the other end Neil White bowled well and claimed two wickets in a marathon spell of 25 overs.

Despite a good innings from the Kenton number four who hit a century, Uxbridge bowled and fielded well and restricted Kenton to 237 for 8 from 50 overs. Parfitt, who has continued to impress this season ended with figures of 3-35 from 12 overs.

Uxbridge got off to a solid start thanks to openers Tony Reely and Sunny Sandhu putting on a stand of 62, before they both fell in the same over. That bought Zabi Maqsoodi to the crease who batted in his usual aggressive style to score at a very quick rate. Supported by Nav Mangat, Uxbridge were well on course for victory.

When Maqsoodi was dismissed for 40, Rob Darvill came in and scored 20 before falling lbw. This led to a slight wobble as Nick Zala (7) and Mangat (33) lost their wicket in quick succession. Will Spicer (23) and Kyle Williams (9) put on a valuable 37 run partnership to take Uxbridge closer to their target but with Kenton taking regular wickets, it was left to Neil White (9 not out) and man of the match Parfitt (5 not out) to hit the winning runs with three balls to spare.

Uxbridge remain in second place in the table and play Enfield at Park Road this Saturday.
