Pinner beat Glaxo by six wickets

PINNER secured their first league win of the new season in emphatic fashion, with Sagar Panaskar integral to proceedings.

He claimed five catches and a stumping before crashing 86 to finally get his side up and running. Glaxo were reduced to 204 all out with Ash Hussain (41) and Martin Jean Jaques (33) top scoring. Pinner's wicket takers were Laurence Schreiber (3 for 56), Mehfooz Khan (3 for 37) and Bhavik Thakkar (3 for 41).

Pinner's reply was steady but Ranjit Bagwe's quick-fire 43, Panaskar's haul and 35 not out from Bhavik Thakkar eased them past the finishing line.

Pinner's second string, meanwhile, lost to Alexandra Park by three wickets.

Batting first Pinner were sent packing for 264 in 49 overs with Manoj Pereira (92) and Sanket Shah (42) offering the main contrubutions.

In reply Park made 265 for seven off 50.2 overs with dropped catches proving costly for Pinner. Vishal Trivedi (four for 41) and W Oosthuizen (two for 30) took the bowling honours.

On Sunday, a Pinner Development XI played Woodland CC. Their opponents batted first and were restricted to 141 for nine off 40 overs with 15-year-old Colt pair Kevin Lee Simion (two for 24) and Jay Patel (two for eight), and Rob Rayment (two for 17) taking the bowling honours. In reply Pinner made the runs for the loss of six wickets with A Majid (43) and Tom Corcoran (43*) seeing them home.
