High winds have led to the destruction of the sightscreens at Osterley Cricket Club.

The ground, based on Tentelow Lane, had been improved over the course of the winter and was the subject of NatWest Cricket force day of action earlier in the year in order to be ready for the new season.

And groundsman Dave Paddon was in shock after seeing the sightscreens damaged to such a degree.

He said: “Everybody had chipped in and managed to get them ready for the season. We had a bit of a problem there. It's all a bit of a shock. I don't know if there's anyone out there that can help us.

“I think they cost us a few grand. We all chipped in for them and they've been built over the last few months.

“You don't really get freak weather at this kind of year and the strong winds have done this to them.

“There's nothing to defend them out there. There's been a bad gust of wind and it's caught us by surprise.

“Anything would help. I don't know if they're repairable now. We've got games going on at the weekend so we need to try and do something.

If there is anything you can do to help, get in touch with groundsman Dave Paddon on 07789975182.
