Middlesex Championship Division One

Crouch End 204 all out

Wycombe House 165 all out

(Wycombe House lost by 39 runs)

There was an early sign that it wasn't going to be Wycombe House's day at Crouch End when they lost opening bowler Hassan Shah to a freak injury.

Jst as the captains were tossing up, Shah collided with a roller as he was warming up, taking him out of the game forcing House out into the field with just 10 players.

This was especially tough, with Crouch End's short boundaries and lightning fast outfield, and the as the hosts took advantage of the gaps in the field, things got worse for Wycombe House as another bowler pulled up and had to leave the field.

With the score 50-0 after 10 overs, it looked like it was going to be a long day. But House turned to spin, and after Bilal Chaudhry picked up the first wicket, left arm spinner Sohail Elahi got in on the act with a six-wickets haul to to push he tide back in Wycombe House’s favour.

Spin king: Wycombe House CC's Sohail Elahi

Debutant Bilal Hassan Chaudhry (one of two Bilal Chaudhrys at the club) cleaned up the tail with three quick-fire wickets to finish off Crouch End for 204, then opened House's reply by hitting 16 off the first over.

However, after Dilesh Perera, Carl Burdett and the other Bilal Chaudhry fell cheaply it was left to 15 year old Savin Perera. to put together an elegant innings of 53, and he and Hassan Hanif 's (30) 60-run partnership took House closer to the target.

At 150-6, they looked set to chase it down, but a bowling change saw Perera dismissed, and with the two injured players unfit to bat, House were rolled over for 165.

In the same division, Osterley's (165ao) title challenge was also dealt a blow with a 20-run defeat to Edmonton (185ao), while in Division Two, an unbeaten 80 from Rav Sehmi and figures of 6-77 from David Boothroyd saw Turnham Green & Polytechnic (248-4) beat Kensington & Chelsea (243 ao) by six wickets.

In Division Three, Old Isleworthians & Heston (113ao) lost by 222 runs to Pinner Challengers (333-5), while Rajput Samaj (98ao) beat Regents Park (75ao) by 13 runs in a low-scoring Division Four game.
