Middlesex’s managing director of cricket Angus Fraser has stated his delight at the acquisition of Pakistan international Junaid Khan.

The left-arm fast bowler joins the club as an overseas player to replace Australian international Joe Burns, who has been called up for the Australia ‘A’ tour to Chennai.

And Fraser believes the club have done remarkably well to replace Burns with a high-quality international in the form of Khan.

"We are delighted to have got a bowler of Junaid's quality at such short notice,” said the former England cricketer.

“I would like to thank the Pakistan Cricket Board for their help in getting this deal through. With over 80 international appearances and over 150 international wickets he will bring variety, experience and further quality to our bowling attack.

"His time with Lancashire means he has experience of English conditions. His presence will ease the workload on our main seamers too."

Junaid will primarily be involved in Middlesex's Royal London One-Day Cup group matches - with a debut possible as early as Wednesday - but will also be available for selection for LV=CC cricket should his services be required.

Middlesex CCC will review its overseas player position again at the end of the group stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup.
