Middlesex youngster Max Holden will skipper the ECB's England Development Programme squad when they play four matches against Pakistan U17s in the UAE next month.

The all-rounder, who was named on the programme in October, will captain the side in the three one-day 50-over matches and a three-day contest, with the first fixture taking place on February 17 at the ICC Academy in Dubai.

Holden, Surrey's Sam Curran and Nottinghamshire's Tom Moores are all part of the full EDP, while the other 12 players have been selected from the county academy system.

"The selection of three under-16 players and three slightly older under-18 guys for this series helps us to ensure that we are developing as wide a pool of young talent as possible," said the EDP's chairman of selectors David Graveney.

"When planning the tour, we didn't want to be limited to a single age group. It's hugely important that we have a long-term vision and pathway in place across the board at this formative stage of the players' development."
