David Malan is fast becoming the rising young star of Middlesex cricket.
His 103 off just 54 balls at the Oval last night (Tuesday) sent Middlesex into the Twenty20 finals day as the 20-year-old played the leading role in his side's 12 run win over Lancashire in the quarter-final clash.
Middlesex were in trouble at 21-4 when Malan arrived and he then hit the Lancashire bowlers to all parts of the Oval as Middlesex posted a score of 176-7.
Despite Freddie Flintoff leading Lacashire's run chase with a half century they still fell short of their target finishing on 164-8 off their 20 overs.
Malan was named man of the match as he followed up his century for Middlesex in the recent County Championship clash with Northants at Uxbridge with another masterful knock.
