Ickenham 137-4

WINNING DRAW FOR ICKENHAM

ICKENHAM sit at the top of Division Two after the first weekend of fixtures.

The Oak Avenue club won the toss and elected to start their 2013 campaign in the field, getting off to a cracking start as Darius D’Souza and Sachin Patel were both dismissed without scoring.

Saad Mohammad Waqas stepped things up for Harrow with an unbeaten 74 to push the visitors to a 172 total.

But, it was a beatable score and Ickenham number one batsman Charith Gunasekara clearly meant business at the crease, smashing an excellent 65 before being caught LBW.

Tim Budd and Lance Hockley added another 34 for Ickenham before Mike Olsen entered the fray.

Olsen partnered David Gibson, who was soon caught by Pritesh Vaghela off the bowling of Ajay Patdiwala, and produced an unbeaten 17 with the bat.

Ananda Iyer put on the last four runs of Ickenham’s 137-4 final score in their 36 overs, giving them four points for a positive start.

Uxbridge also picked up a winning draw and four points in their opening Division Two clash with North Middlesex.

But Eastcote are bottom of Division One after losing by just one wicket to Teddington at Bushy Park.
