DIVISION TWO: Leverstock Green 73-1 (30pts) beat Northwood 72 (1pt) by nine wickets

Northwood suffered a terrible day at the office as no less than seven batsmen were dismissed for single figure scores away to leaders Leverstock Green.

Batting first they had no answer to the Leverstock attack as Sam Mazurek (2-7), Adam Thomas (4-57) and Brad Klosterman (3-6) tore through their line-up.

Only Simon Noach (19) and Richard Wise (24) offered any resistance although Andy Sharland (11) also passed 10 as Northwood were skittled for just 72 within 38 overs. Leverstock easily reached the total in the 13th over for the loss of only Dave Tyson (32), who fell to Raj Latch-man (1-8), with Klosterman (36 not out) remaining unbeaten. [25a0] The seconds lifted club spirits with victory over Chorleywood II despite openers Keith Watson and Ranjit Latchman suffering a relative failure, putting on only 44 for the first wicket.

Northwood slumped to 72 for four but skipper Nick Nicholson (51) and Steve Lewis (31), with his highest score for two years, took the total to 150 for six and the tail wagged to help the side to 199 for nine in 53 overs.

The Chorleywood openers got off to a good start with 44 before the loss of the first wicket and from then on the visitors decided to hit the ball in the air and Northwood safely pouched eight catches to win the game.

Ashley Woodward (4-33) and Ram Nandiraju (4-24) went through the order with Iyyaz Sharif getting the last two wickets as Chorleywood were bowled out for 112 to lose by 87 runs. [25a0] Young prospect Richard Mackey failed for the first time this year but Robert Fells (48) and Kuram Rana (49) helped he team to 196 all out, both avoiding buying jugs as they put on 84 for the second wicket against Boxmoor II.

The rest of the order chipped in including legendary Mike Blomberg stroking five fours in a late 22 while Adam Bailey also hit his first four for the club.

Boxmoor started well before Kuram Rana took three wickets including one caught by Jerry Gibb, making a welcome return to the club. However, it turned into the Blomberg show as he came back to take five for 30 with his slow spin and bowl out Boxmoor out for 155.
