Mitchell Osbon hit his maiden century on Sunday - but it was a bittersweet experience.

He smashed 117 in tandem with skipper Andy Sutton, who hit a restrained 60, as Bedfont 62 put on 196 for the second wicket at Phoenix.

But their total of 246-5 proved not to be enough as Phoenix grasped a one-wicket victory, despite the best efforts of the earlier batting heroes in attack.

Sutton grabbed an impressive haul of 5-51, and Osbon capped a fine day with 1-61.

But despite having taken nine Phoenix wickets, Bedfont could not bowl them out and lost in the final over.

The previous day, Steve Gould was the hero with both bat and ball as Bedfont grabbed a draw at Fulmer.

He took 3-42, while Mark Osbon chipped in with 2-58, as Bedfont restricted the home side to 235-6.

Then, following the loss of three wickets, the pair teamed up for a partnership of 97, with Gould smashing 77 and Osbon 40, as Bedfont finished on 191-7 for a share of the spoils.
