Royal London One-Day Cup

Surrey: 286-6

Middlesex: 292-4

Middlesex won by six wickets

Eoin Morgan inspired Middlesex to an emphatic victory over rivals Surrey on Thursday to record their first win in the competition.

Morgan hit a resounding 128 not out from 86 balls, with 13 fours and five sixes, to give the Panthers a vital victory with 31 balls remaining while staking his claim in England's upcoming one-day series against India.

Surrey themselves fired off exactly 100 runs in their final 10 overs, with impressive performances from  Tillakaratne Dilshan, himself scoring a century as he made 115, and Azhar Mahmood, who provided 52 runs of his own towards a total of 286-6.

As Middlesex went out to bat they slumped to 126-4 in the 25th over, with Ryan Higgins caught and bowled on 16 by Zafar Ansari.

But with Morgan joined at the crease by Neil Dexter, they quickly racked up the runs to make an unbroken partnership of 166 in just over 20 overs.

Dexter made 47, but it was Morgan who finished triumphantly with a six off the final ball.

Middlesex next face Somerset at Lord's on Thursday in the competition.
