Ealing bounced back from five winless games to take it out on Twickenham in the Middlesex Premier League.

The opposition won the toss, opted to bat and Joe Sexton’s 55 off 53 balls was his side’s best knock. Nevertheless, Twickenham were all out for 197, thanks to the superb bowling efforts of Chris Glasper and Chris Peploe, who each took four wickets.

Ealing made short work of chasing Twickenham’s total. Ahmad Elech opened with a rapid 51 to get them off to a good start.

However, it was Chris Wakefield’s spell at the crease that proved decisive. Wakefield’s 84 off 72 balls clinched victory as Ealing polished off the total for the loss of only three wickets.

In Division Two, Shepherds Bush’s title challenge lost momentum as they slumped to defeat against Enfield.

Bush were only one point behind league leaders Eastcote at the start, and Enfield could only manage 192. But although they stuck it out to the last 14 balls, Bush fell short at 162.

Brentham’s dismal run of form continued as they lost their fourth game on the trot to Wembley.

Last week, the Ealing side could only manage 77. This time they got to 173, but Wembley only lost two wickets chasing down the total.

Acton’s defeat to Hornsey rounded off a bleak weekend for West London clubs.

Electing to bat first, Acton opened well with a big 75 from Hannadige Soysa, enhanced by a swift 54 off 52 balls from Yasir Mehmood. Unfortunately, Acton were up against it with the bowling of Sean Solia who ended on 5-13.

The north Londoners made the 208 required for the loss of six wickets.
