Young volunteers have help put a community allotment site in Feltham on the map.
A group from the National Citizenship Programme (NCS) ended a two-year wait for Heron Way Allotments plot holders by putting up a striking welcome sign that will help people find the location.
Having been promised the sign by Hounslow Council , allotment holders were eventually granted their wish by the youngsters, and expressed their thanks for the generous donation of their time.
The NCS volunteers set themselves the task after they were unable to find the allotments themselves.
As part of their social action day project, 10 young people designed and created an artistic and colourful 'Welcome to Heron Way Allotments' sign so people can find the community allotments more easily.
Rin Roche who coordinates the allotment said: "We've been waiting for Carillion (contractors responsible for managing Hounslow Council's allotments) to put a sign up for a while.
"Now we have one it will help people know where we are.
“This is a fantastic community resource open to new members as a place to come and grow with others in a communal setting, learn about allotment keeping, when and how to propagate and which tools to use - the sign will help new members find the allotment and get outdoors in this green gym.”
The grounds around the site are dilapidated which made it difficult for people to know where to find the allotments.
There are also up to 30 individual plots available on the site, off Heron Way, Causeway (opposite Hounslow Urban Farm).
