British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for witnesses after a man was pushed onto the tracks following a row at Bond Street tube station.

The 20-year-old victim who suffered from a number of cuts of bruises pulled himself back onto the London Underground Jubilee line platform on Thursday (June 9) evening.

He was then taken as precaution to hospital before being taken home.

BTP said two men were having an argument minutes before one was pushed onto the tracks, in a ‘shocking’ offence.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said: “We are investigating after a man was pushed onto the tracks on a Jubilee line platform.

“Following an argument with another man inside the station a few minutes earlier, the 20-year-old victim was pushed onto the tracks and received cuts and bruises before quickly climbing back onto the platform.

“The man, from Lewisham, alerted station staff and BTP were called at 10.13pm.

“This was a busy platform in central London and I would urge anyone who witnessed the events at Bond Street to contact us immediately.”

The attacker is believed to have quickly jumped on a Jubilee line train northbound out of the station after the incident.

Police are working to gather CCTV footage from the station to piece together the suspect’s movements.

The suspect is described as white, of slim build, around 5ft 7ins tall and in his early-to-mid 20s.

He was clean shaven with short black hair, wearing black trousers and a light blue shirt.

DCI Langley added: “We will do everything we can to identify him and deal with him accordingly.

“Although no trains were approaching on this occasion and he was not seriously injured, the outcome could have been much more serious.

“Currently we believe this was an isolated incident and do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016 quoting 661 of 9/6/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

BTP are also looking for a man in connection with shoplifting at Marybelone station.
