Children who just can’t wait to be king can brush up on their roars at a training programme for Disney’s hit musical The Lion King.

Seven to 11-year-olds who have dreams of becoming a Young Simba or Young Nala are invited to open auditions for the production’s Cub School.

The free 14-week programme helps children hone their singing, dancing and acting skills in the hope of landing a role in the award-winning production, which is now in its 15th year.

Auditions will take place on Sunday, March 16 at Sylvia Young Theatre School in Nutford Place, off Edgware Road from 10.30am. Children are not required to prepare anything in advance but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and be below 4ft 8in in height.

While winning a place in Cub School does not guarantee a part in the stage musical, it has proved to be excellent training for young people with the ambition to work in theatre.
