Hounslow's Talia Dean has taken a step further in the X Factor competition after leaving fans on the edge of their seats following a dramatic Six Chair Challenge.

The mother of one was brought back into the competition on Sunday (October 15) after mentor, Nicole Scherzinger initially kicked her off the competition during the brutal challenge on Saturday night (October 16).

She wowed the Wembley audience with Macy Gray's I Try.

Chants of "bring her back" erupted from the audience and in a dramatic turn of events, the 32-year-old was brought back out onto the stage and awarded a seat, securing her ticket to South Africa for the judges' houses stage of the competition.

Speaking to getwestlondon , Talia revealed it was a nerve-racking experience, she said: "When I came back after being kicked off, it was the best feeling but I was still really scared because I thought, well she's just kicked me off once so she's already unsure whether she wants me or not so I could go at any point"

Before Talia took to the stage, a chorus of boos rang out around the stadium as the audience reacted to a fellow competitor and she explained how she went into "panic mode".

"I just had a complete meltdown, I started shaking, crying, they had to call over the psychiatrist to come and have a chat with me," she said.

"I'm glad I had the meltdown before that [the performance] because it made that so much more personal, when they cheered for me I was already feeling like, I need you guys to love me, my bootcamp didn't go very well but they gave me another chance and I need you guys to love me and they absolutely loved every second of it."

She added: "The whole area was shaking, honestly, I couldn't explain it, all I could just feel was just vibrating like there was an earthquake or something.

"It's so important because when people cheer for you and they're enjoying what you're doing, it takes you to another level and you can hit that quite important note that you need to hit."

'Anyone can have their dream come true'

Talia, who is in the Overs category, has always had a love for singing but was unable to build up the courage to go for an audition until she had her son.

She explained: "When you have a child you realise how precious life is and how much you shouldn't waste anything and why not me?

"Dreams aren't for magicians, anyone can have their dream come true."

She added: "He pushed me, I wasn't going to be that person that wished I'd done something."

Talia works as a VIP concierge at Heathrow Airport and says Nicole encouraged her to go on the show when they met at the airport.

"She was like 'well it's a fantastic platform for you, if you really really can sing then go for it, why not?'

"So I did, she was a massive part of this for me and I just can't believe I got her as a mentor as well, everything seems a bit like it was just fate, you know, meant to be."

'We are a great community and we are very strong'

Talia also explained how in recent weeks she has experienced a rally of support from the local community: "Suddenly everybody's proud to be from Hounslow.

"I've always been proud, but I think I've just affirmed to people, no it's OK and we're alright and even though we don't have the greatest reputation [...] this is cool and we are a great community and we are very strong and we are all from different parts of the world and it doesn't even matter because we're family, all of us."

Talia has one more barrier in her way before she can step onto the live show stage - judges' houses.

She is heading to South Africa with Nicole Scherzinger and guest judge Stormzy who will assist in deciding whether the Hounslow singer has what it takes to go all the way.

Find out if Talia makes it into the final live show line up when the X Factor continues at 8.20pm on Saturday (October 21) on ITV.
