A woman who who failed to stop for police and injured an officer as she drove away in Harrow has been convicted of dangerous driving and ordered to pay £2,415.

Kimberley Marshall, 21, of Carmelite Way, Harrow, was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on November 1.

Two officers approached Marshall in Hempstead Road, Watford at 4.30pm on September 30 2016.

They were seeking to trace a man whom they believed was a passenger in Marshall's black BMW.

Instead of speaking to officers, who identified themselves, Marshall drove off and a male police constable was dragged by her car for a short distance, but he was not seriously injured.

Marshall continued to drive at speed, overtaking 58 cars while driving on the wrong side of Hempstead Road.

She also jumped a red light at a major junction, forcing other road users to brake to avoid a serious crash.

She was eventually stopped and detained with help from Hertfordshire Police.

Before police managed to detain her, Marshall had stopped in Hempstead Road to let a male passenger out of the car.

This man was eventually arrested in December 2016 and charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Marshall was charged with dangerous driving on April 18 2017.

Marshall was found guilty of dangerous driving at Harrow Crown Court on October 27 and sentenced at the same court on November 1.

She was given a five-month sentence suspended for 12 months.

She was also disqualified from driving for 18 months, and ordered to pay costs of £2,300 and a victim surcharge of £115.

Harrow policeman, PC James Cornelius, said: "We are pleased to have secured this conviction for what was a very dangerous offence that could have had disastrous consequences."
