A search is underway after a woman was pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted near a cricket club in Hanwell.

Met police said a woman in her 30s was walking near the clubhouse of Hanwell Cricket Club, Greenford Road, on Friday (August 26) at around 9.50pm when she was approached by a male.

She was then pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted by the male, before the victim managed to break free and run off.

The suspect spoke to her in an accent believed to be Eastern European, possibly Polish, before the attack.

According to officers, the suspect is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s and is approximately 5ft 10ins tall.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, grey shorts, socks and trainers.

Detective sergeant Steve Grainger, from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Hanwell Cricket Club and Greenford Road on the evening of Friday, 26 August and saw anything suspicious to get in contact.

"Have you seen a man fitting the suspect's description in the area, or did you see him leaving the scene after the attack?

"If you can help, please call police."

No arrests have been made.
