A woman was taken to hospital for with burns injuries after a fire broke out on the fifth floor of a block of flats in Bayswater.

Six fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to the eight storey block of flats in Lancaster Terrace on Monday.

Twenty people left the building before the fire crews arrived and one woman was taken to hospital suffering from burns to her hands.

Firefighters stopped the flames spreading to neighbouring flats. They were called at 2.30pm and fire under control within an hour.

Crews from Chelsea , North Kensington, Soho, Euston, Clapham and Stanmore fire stations attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
