William and Kate delight crowds with surprise visit to Kensington

The Duke and Duchess were joined by actress Barbara Windsor to help support the Royal British Legion

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise visit to High Street Kensington on Thursday to support Royal British Legion volunteers.

William and Kate joined actress Barbara Windsor aboard a classic London bus to make their way there, where they were mobbed by delighted crowds.

Former EastEnders and Carry On star Barbara Windsor is the Legion's Poppy Day Ambassador and earlier told Lorraine Kelly on Daybreak that said she was very much looking forward to meeting William and Kate for the first time.

She is said to have asked after baby Prince George during the five minute journey from Kensington Palace.
