A man convicted of raping an escort may have escaped to Somalia while another was jailed for seven years for the same crime.

Police are hunting Mohamed Abdihakim, of Mackay House in the White City Estate, who failed to turn up for his sentencing hearing on December 13.

He had been bailed by Isleworth Crown Court on October 4 when he was found guilty of rape and false imprisonment.

The 22-year-old’s co-defendant, Sadiq Ali, of Minterne Way, Hayes, was given seven years in prison for demanding the 19-year-old victim perform a sex act during the violent assault at an address in Blyth Road, Hayes, after calling an escort agency in the early hours of May 26, 2012.

Ali left the room after the attack before Abdihakim entered and also forced her to perform a sex act.

At Ali’s sentencing, the court heard how Abdihakim’s last known mobile phone had transmitted signals near Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

The woman, a student who became an escort to pay for her studies, suffered no physical injury, and bravely gave evidence in front of her attackers during the trial. An impact statement describing the effect the ordeal has had on her was handed to Judge Andrew McDowall before he sentenced Ali to seven years for rape, three for attempted rape and one for false imprisonment, to run concurrently.

Abdihakim was not the only attacker to run off – another absconded before the start of the trial on September 23 last year.

DC Adam Lewis, said: “This was a horrific attack by three males on a lone female victim. Police are still actively pursuing the two outstanding suspects in this case. The MPS are committed to pursuing any allegations made to them of a sexual nature.”
