Expecting rain and/or showers to ruin your plans is about as British as a cup of tea or an orderly queue.

But have you ever wondered what the difference is?

Well, Met Office has released a video answering that burning question, so you're not left scratching your head during the morning's weather forecast.

Experts say rain is when the majority, if not all, of the locality face rain which lasts for while.

However, showers are instead scattered and shorter in duration.

This means not everyone in the locality will get wet at the same time.
