A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder after a fight near Oxford Street left a man with head injuries so serious that he died four days later.

The Swedish national, aged 49, was found by police officers suffering head injuries after they were called to a fight in Henrietta Place, Westminster , at 6.27am on Saturday (July 29).

The injured man was taken by London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital in a critical condition.

He pronounced dead at 4.43pm on Wednesday (August 2) and his next of kin were informed.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Formal identification has taken place, however we are not in a position to name him at this time.

"A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. The Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating."

Antoni Chiakka, 21, of Enfield, has been remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday (August 5).

He was arrested on Thursday (August 4) on suspicion of murder and charged as above. Two men were previously arrested in connection with the investigation.

They are a 21-year-old male, who was arrested on July 29, on suspicion of murder and assisting an offender, and has been bailed to return on a date in late August.

Another 21-year-old male was arrested two days later, on suspicion of murder and has been released under investigation.
