Wembley homeowners will net thousands of pounds by renting out driveways for football fans heading to the FA Cup Final.

90,000 football fans set to descend upon Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup Final on Saturday (May 21) and local homeowners have found a way to cash in - by renting out their spare driveways to people attending the game.

The highly-anticipated final, which will see Crystal Palace play Manchester United , will kick off at the stadium at 5.30pm and is predicted to create £25,000 for locals in driveway rent.

Over 750 homeowners in Wembley currently participate in the parking scheme - which has generated over £700,000 in additional income for the local economy since its launch.

Residents with empty parking spaces outside their homes are charging an average of £14 per car on website JustPark - less than the half the price of the official stadium parking - and are forecast to earn up to £25,000 from drivers paying to park in their driveways during the final.

Some homeowners who have been renting out their driveways for a number of years have made over £10,000.

A 'cheaper alternative' to overpriced car parking

Brian Stewart rents out five spaces on his large drive in Wembley, which is situated less than half a mile from the stadium.

He said: “I've been a JustPark space owner since 2008 and watch it grow from strength to strength.

“Their website is really easy to use, and they've managed to maintain a very localised and personal service to both space owners and drivers alike.”

Fans will flock to Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup final

Driveway rental is a growing trend across the UK, as more and more motorists search for cheaper alternatives to overpriced car parking - with the number of JustPark bookings near Wembley stadium increasing by over 20% in the last 12 months.

JustPark founder, Anthony Eskinazi, said: “It’s an expensive business being a football fan these days, so we’re happy that we can help people find cheaper match day parking through JustPark - whilst putting money back into the pockets of local residents at the same time.”

“These families and individuals are resourceful enough to be making a bit of extra money from their property, and are offering an important service at the same time - in this case, cheap parking for football fans in Wembley.”
