Wembley High Road was shut after a car and a bus collided on the junction of Cecil Avenue, causing severe delays and disruption in the area.

The incident happened at around 9.50am on Wednesday morning (June 8) and police were called to the road after they received reports of a car and bus being involved in a car crash.

The road was closed in both directions, and bus routes 18, 83, 92, 182, 223 and 224 were all on diversion as a result, with Transport for London saying that there were severe delays on the approaches to the road.

No one was injured as a result of the crash and the vehicles have now been recovered after the car involved in the collision covered three lanes.

The road was reopened at 12.45pm and all bus routes that were on diversion have now resumed their normal service.

There has been a spate of road traffic incidents in west London recently, with the latest incident coming after an elderly woman died after a car drove into the back of a vehicle in Queen's Park.

Tony Akers, TfL’s Head of Bus Operations, said: "At around 09:56am today, a route 18 double deck bus, operated by Metroline, was involved in a collision with a car at the junction of Cecil Avenue and High Road, in Wembley. Emergency services attended the scene.

"There will be a full investigation into the incident.”
