Animal haters’ have killed a newborn lamb in a savage daylight knife attack in a field in Feltham where a flock of sheep were grazing.

The sheep owner, who wished to remain anonymous following the traumatic incident, was disgusted to find an attempt had been made to skin alive five-day-old Tinkerbell, who sadly died from her injuries on Wednesday (May 11).

The woman who owns the flock in a small holding is keeping the location under wraps for fear of copycat incidents in the area but is keen to raise awareness to help find the culprits.

She said: "I am disgusted by what has happened to Tinkerbell. She was only five days old and had no way of defending herself against the cruel people who did this.

"Tinkerbell suffered a huge neck wound and although she received veterinary treatment her injuries were too severe.

"I tried so hard to keep Tinkerbell alive, but she sadly passed away on Wednesday night.

"It is frightening to think that Tinkerbell's injuries were caused by people and I can only hope that they, or someone that knows what happened, will come forward."

Tinkerbell received one large cut across the back of her neck and her fleece and skin was ripped away from her body before she was left in the field and discovered during a routine sheep check around 4pm on Monday (May 9).

In an unrelated incident on April 10 2015, a vicious attack killed two newborn lambs and injured several sheep at Bedfont Lakes Country Park, which led to the launch of a petition gathering nearly 1,000 signatures to get the park manned by rangers at all times.

Police branded the killings as a "despicable" act.

Tinkerbell was taken to a vet in Windsor who cleaned and stitched the wound together with staples before being sent home with antibiotics and placed under 24 hour care.

A full recovery was not guaranteed for an otherwise healthy lamb.

Unfortunately at seven days old, two days after the attack, sadly she suffered from cardiac arrest and could not be saved.

Worries after lambs killed and cats decapitated

Tinkerbell received one large cut across the back of her neck

Karen Teulon, of Southern Avenue in Feltham, who launched the petition following last year's Bedfont Lakes attacks, was shocked when she heard about the latest attack and is appealing for help to find the person or people behind it, before another life of an animal is taken.

“This was in Feltham and in an area where there would have been people about,” Ms Teulon said.

“We don’t want to reveal the exact location publicly because of the fear of copycat type reprisals from other animal haters in the area.

“You could see from a distance that she just didn’t look right and then when she was approached, the full extent of what had happened to her became apparent.

“I’m very concerned about the welfare of all animals in this area. With the lambs from Bedfont Lakes being killed last year, now this one and the numerous reports of people decapitating cats within the M25 area, something very odd is happening and there are some very evil people out there.”

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Hounslow Police on 101.
