The south east is set to revel in glorious sunshine this weekend, with temperatures forecast to reach 31C.

The Met Office says it's time to get out the sun cream again with Mediterranean conditions set to sweep across west London.

Forecaster Aidan McGivern said: "Summer is now starting to make an appearance this weekend for much of the country we can expect increasing sunny skies and increasingly hot temperatures.

"High pressure is building in from the south west, it is going to bring with it a lot of settled weather and a plume of warm air right across the country.

"Much of England will see plenty of sunny spells and very warm temperatures we're looking at 28 degrees or so in the south east on Saturday."

The meteorologist added the high pressure will cling onto the south on Sunday, with more sunshine and increasing hot temperatures.

"There is almost wall to wall sunshine on Sunday," he said

"By Sunday, 30C or 31C is possible in the south east."
