Snow, ice, strong winds and now to top it all off, a flood warning.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Thames from Putney Bridge to Teddington Weir.

The flood alert is in place from Thursday January 12 until Saturday January 14.

The areas that could be affected include Putney, Chiswick and Twickenham.

A combination of strong winds and high tides and surges is increasing the risk of flooding.

The following areas could be affected:

  • Putney Embankment
  • Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green
  • Thames Bank at Mortlake
  • Ranelagh Drive
  • Friars Lane and Water Lane
  • Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham
  • The Towpath below Teddington Lock

Mark Douch at the Environment Agency said: “The weather remains very unsettled with potentially heavy rainfall falling, so we are monitoring our rivers and watercourses closely."

The Environment Agency advise motorists to avoid driving through water.

To protect your property, ensure sandbags are laid out and if you are affected by flooding, call Floodline on 0345 988 1188.
