The MP for Harrow West Gareth Thomas has raised concerns about the number of police officers in the area as a murder investigation is launched following a stabbing on Monday evening (February 27).
The incident happened outside the Halifax bank in High Street, directly opposite the recently closed police station.
Mr Thomas said: “I was very sorry to learn of this incident, and have already been in contact with the police who have assured me they will be treating this as a high priority.
“It is vital that Harrow's police are given the resources they need, and I will continue to raise concerns about the cuts we have seen to officer numbers in the last few years.”
Mr Thompson has campaigned against the closure of the High Street police station but it recently closed despite his efforts.
The stabbing happened at around 6.50pm and the victim was rushed to hospital, but died at around 2.30am on Tuesday morning.
His next of kin have been informed but he has not yet been formally identified.
The Metropolitan Police is appealing for witnesses to call them on 020 8358 0200 or 101.
Anyone with information can use Twitter by sending a tweet to @MetCC or pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
There have not been any arrests and enquiries continue.
