Following the news that NatWest Bank could be forced to leave Uxbridge High Street getwestlondon readers have taken to the internet to voice their concerns.

The landlord of the bank, which is part of The Pavilions shopping centre, has had planning approval to convert the building from a bank into either a restaurant or a café.

But many local residents have criticised the plans, arguing a bank is a better use of the space than another restaurant or café.

Chrissy Hilton is one of a number of readers who suggest more supermarkets are needed in the town.

Beverly Ladierose also had concerns involving the building itself, and elderly NatWest users who rely on the bank.

The next nearest NatWest branches are in Hayes 4.6 miles away or 5.5 miles away in Southall.

It is unclear whether the bank will be forced to close or move but a spokesperson for NatWest said they are exploring options to remain in the Uxbridge area.

Posting on Facebook, Steve Hickman stressed the importance of the bank over a restaurant.

While Colin Rooney did not express concern over the changes to the bank, he did show optimism at refacing the 'ugly' building.

And Sarah Pridham took the opportunity to put in her preference for the type of restaurant we might see added to the town centre.

getwestlondon has approached the landlords for comment but received no response.
