The Guinness World Record for having the most varieties of rum commercially available in the world has been broken by Cottons Caribbean Restaurant and Salon de Rhum in Notting Hill .

And they didn't just break it, they smashed it, with a record number of 372 available. The title was previously help by The Smugglers Cove in Liverpool, which was set in January 2015 with 151 varieties of rum available.

The bar was awarded the record last night (Thursday, October, 27).

"We're so happy," barman Barry told getwestlondon. " We've done it, so amazing."

The collection includes both well known and independent brands, sourced from over 50 countries, and if you want the most expensive, you will need to dig deep into your pockets as just one shot of the the 1960s British Navy Flagon will cost you a whopping £255!

The rum's come from over 50 different countries

General manager of Cottons in Notting Hill Gate, Samantha Edwards, told getwestlondon she has noticed in increase in demand for rum.

She said: "They are not just asking for Caribbean rum, they are asking for rum from all different parts of the world, almost like a test question, and we can always prove that we've got everything, every selection."

In celebration of the award, the restaurant has mixed up its own cocktail - a rum-laced Record Breaker - alongside a limited edition rum menu for those dining in the restaurant.

The bar broke the record with 372 rum's available

And if you want to learn more about the rums they have available, the Salon de Rhum is also planning to launch its own Cocktail Training School. This includes an option for a week’s live training at one of the Cottons rhum shacks or a two-hour introductory course, which involves a rum tasting, history of drinks and a chance at shaking up your own cocktails.

Not bad going for a branch which only opened earlier this year! The first opened in Camden in 1982.
