A delivery driver captured on camera knocking a motorcyclist off his bike before driving away without leaving insurance details has been sacked.

This video posted online shows the moment the DPD driver collided with the motorbike at a junction in Southall, before he refuses to provide his insurance details and drives off.

The bike's rider, Praveen Velugupati, uploaded the helmet-cam footage to YouTube the day after the collision on June 21.

DPD has since confirmed that the driver has been fired following an investigation into the incident.

The footage appears to be filmed on the Armstrong Way and Windmill Lane roundabout, and the video has racked up almost 95,000 views online.

Mr Velugupati said he has reported the incident to both the police and delivery company DPD.

DPD's Southall depot is in nearby Collett Way.

Posting in the video comments, Mr Velugupati said: "DPD have provided me with his insurance. His insurance company have agreed to look after bike damages.

"I have given them the quote from official Yamaha service centre. I am awaiting their reply.

"It appropriately costs £750 approx as per the quote. Pretty expensive knock down I would say."

A spokesperson for DPD said: "We have investigated the incident and have been in contact with the motorcyclist to apologise and resolve the insurance issues.

"We can also confirmed that the driver in question was identified and his contract with the company terminated with immediate effect.

"At DPD we take the behaviour of our staff and the safety of other road users very seriously.

"While incidents such as this are incredibly rare, we will always take firm action where the conduct of staff is found to fall below our high standards."
