Residents were evacuated and shocked members of the public stood and watched in horror as a huge fire broke out in a Shepherd's Bush tower block.

Onlookers captured this dramatic footage of the burning flats in Shepherd's Bush Green at around 4.30pm on Friday afternoon (August 19).

Since the fire was raging near Shepherd's Bush London Underground station, the area was packed with people as west London entered rush hour period.

The roads in the area, also busy due to rush hour, were closed to allow firefighters to deal with the fire.

Police cars and ambulances were also seen in the area, as witnesses reported seeing some people still in the building as the flames leapt from it, while police at the scene told a getwestlondon reporter everyone had got out safely.

London Fire Brigade had the fire under control shortly before 6pm, but the area remained busy and chaotic as large crowds gathered at the police cordon.
