This is the dramatic moment firefighters worked to put out a blaze after an ambulance in Harrow exploded into flames.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to reports of an ambulance on fire just after 7.25am on Saturday (April 23) in Lowlands Road, Harrow, near Harrow-on-the-Hill Tube Station. The incident was captured on camera by Mihai Badea.

An LFB spokesperson said the fire completely destroyed the vehicle and required two fire engines to attend the scene before the large flames was brought under control at 9.40am.

The blaze also led to the evacuation of six people at a nearby property but there were no injuries, the spokesman added.

Neighbours said the road remains white from grit that was put down by firefighters after the blaze.

The LFB spokesman added that the cause of the fire is currently unknown and could not confirm if the ambulance belonged to the London Ambulance Service (LAS).
