Damien Murray captured this fiery footage of flames devouring a tree close to Copley Close Community Hall, in Copley Close, Hanwell , on Thursday (May 5) afternoon.
Forget inflammatory remarks or political firefighting, this was the real thing as voters finally hit the polls after months of campaigning.
Damian Walker, who took the spectacular photo below, said it took just a few minutes for the tree at the rear of boarded up flats on the Copley Close estate to be incinerated once flames took hold.
'Was a political hot head to blame?'
But he said voting had carried on as normal as firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze, which never threatened to spread to the polling station.
"Voting appeared to be uninterrupted, but who can say if it swayed any voters one way or another – or indeed if it was a political hot head who started it in the first place," he joked.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said it received around 20 calls about the fire which broke out in a garden to the rear of Templeton Road, Hanwell.
He said firefighters were called at 3.35pm and a crew from Southall fire station had the blaze under control by 3.53pm.
